AESOP

I have been crushing on this brand for years now, whenever we are in a city with an Aēsop store I am there! My husband treated to me to a few of their products and I wanted to give a review on what I think so far (I have been using them for over a month).

Eau de Parfum

I wanted to start with Aesop fragrance because this is the purchase that made me the most giddy! Tanden and I both now have a new scent and we LOVE them. They compliment each other and are so perfectly unique. Now something interesting to note is on the packaging all the ingredients were listed but online I saw the dreaded “Parfum” in the ingredients of one and had a minor freak out. I reached out to Aesop with my concern and this is what they said back (in summary the email was very thorough): In answer to your enquiry, the Fragrance (Parfum) component of our Fragrance Range includes essentials oils, botanical extracts and synthetic elements. At Aesop we are meticulous in our selection and sourcing of ingredients. Our products do not contain artificial colourants, mineral oils, animal derivatives, pearlising agents and silicones. They mentioned that they do not use any synthetic fragrance compounds except for Vanillin which can be found in a few products.

I looked up Vanillin which was rated 1 on EWG (low for overall hazard). I have followed up with the company with a few more questions and am waiting to hear back so will most likely update this section as to my findings! Besides the concerns with the “Perfum” I couldn’t love these scents more and will definitely be purchasing again if they maintain clean ingredients!

Resurrection Aromatique Hand Wash

This hand wash just makes me feel down right extra and I love it! Smells fresh and leaves my hands feeling clean, what more could one ask for? A bit expensive compared to regularly hand soaps but the bottle is really large so it will last you a while. I would consider purchasing again however I do have other hand soaps that I like that are more cost effective.

Parsley Seed Facial Cleansing Oil

This was my first time using a cleansing oil to wash my face. As we are heading into the colder season I think this is an amazing options for those with dry skin because it does not strip your face of its natural oils while still removing makeup easily. The smell is amazing, like all of their products especially when combined with the toner. I would most likely purchase again, although I would also be interested in trying another one of their face washes.

Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Facial Toner

I am a huge fan of just using Witch Hazel as toner because it just works so well and is reasonably priced. However if you are looking to try something with a little extra, this facial toner is for you! I am so in love with the scent of all of their products and like I said before the toner and cleanser scents are a perfect match. My face smells and feels great after combining the face wash and toner. Although I love the smell and this product does work well I think I will stick to using my plain old Witch Hazel :)

Herbal Deodorant

I have been wanting to try this spray herbal deodorant for 4 years Don’t ask me why it took so long to finally try but it did. I really like using this as a quick spray when I hop out of the shower before bed. I was surprised that It actually worked pretty well even when I go to workout. I wouldn’t say it is my favorite natural deodorant but I do like it and would maybe purchase again even just to have as my nighttime deodorant.

Toothpaste

This purchase was a bit more for my husband than me. There are a few unique ingredients like Sea Buckthorn, Cardamon, and Wasabia JaponicaI. Yet even with these flavors the toothpaste tastes minty and subtle, very usable.

The Brand

I have some serious respect for Aesop! Their products, design, and customer service have all been top notch. Their stores are each designed differently and if you happen to be in a city with an Aesop store you should go check it out. You are truly treated like a guest, often offered tea as you shop, and will sample any of the products on you. Extremely knowledgable and kind, I have had nothing but phenomenal service with Aesop. Even through online correspondence the service has been great.

There are a few of their products with ingredients that can cause skin irritation and are not rated so well on the EWG like Isoeugenol, Benzyl Salicylate, and Geraniol. As I have researched these ingredients and know they are not the best, they could potentially be an allergen and cause dermatitis. Luckily I have never had a reaction to any of their products. This is really the only “negative” and it doesn’t have any red flags for reproductive health, which is my main concern and why I am okay with using their products.

As always make sure you read the ingredients lists pf your products, brands do change them and you may not be aware. Also don’t be afraid to do your own research, reach out to brands and find out what is really in your products! I am so happy I was able to try out so many of Aesop’s products and really did enjoy them all. Thank you so much for following along with my Little Urban Life!
