MATCHA LATTE
Thanks to my good friend Tanya I was introduced to my latest obsession, MATCHA! I have never been a coffee person even after working at a coffee shop for some time. A Matcha latte has been the best substitute for me since it gives me that rich flavor, satisfying and energizing me for my morning without leaving me queasy.
So let me tell you why I love Matcha so much. Most people know that green tea is good for you, well one serving of matcha is the equivalent of TEN CUPS of green tea! That means this drink is jam packed with antioxidants, it boost metabolism, detoxes, and aids with concentration, it is also known to help with anti cancer cells! There are even more health benefits associated with matcha just search it on google and prepare yourself to be amazed at all it can do. My health is important to me so why not drink something that is aiding to a healthy life AND taste so great!
I love the taste of matcha, especially when it is made into a late (so just adding milk)! I have always been a tea drinker so I already like most all teas. The taste can vary between brands and grades of matcha but it should have an earthy green tea taste some describe as "vegetal and astringent". I add stevia to mine to sweeten a bit which I think makes it much more enjoyable.
Here is my morning matcha making routine:
Right now I am using Grace and Green Matcha, which is so amazing! I highly suggest them!
I start by warming up some water in my kettle, it really doesn't need to be boiling just steaming and warm (if your matcha is tasting bitter it could be your water is getting too hot).
While the water is being warmed I take a heaping scoop of matcha using my bamboo stick and place it in a small strainer. This helps to get rid of any lumps in the matcha.
I then add the water to the strained matcha and whisk for about a minute with a bamboo whisk until frothy.
I use an electric milk frother that I found on amazon that works great! I typically use either cashew or oat milk and both taste amazing and creamy.
I then added the frothed milk to the whisked matcha and that is all, super easy and so yummy! I will add a few drops of stevia to sweeten, or occasionally honey.
I have had a lot of people ask me where I bought the whisk, bowl and bamboo-measuring tool. I bought them on amazon and here is the link:
